Strictly For My Ninjas pt.2
October 13, 2009 12:59 AM PDT
A bit more digging into what I love the best.... cross genre business, mixed in one 90min take, a bit erratic but basically that's me. Spinning between the smoothness of Rodney Franklin's 'Felix Leo' and Chaka Khan, to Mark E's finest and then onto my re-edit of Mr Bumpman. Get's a bit detroit in there for a bit, then ends a bit jazzy. You know the steez. Enjoy Rodney Franklin - "Felix Leo" Chaka Khan - "Night Moves" Mark E - "Codsall Juniors" ------> into ------> "Get Yourself Together" Theo Parrish - "Root Beer Float" Confunkshun - "Indian Summer" Sherrick - "Call Me" Jo Boyer - "Isabelle & The Rain" LCD Soundsystem - "4533 (Riley Rienhold remix)" Omar S - "Flying Gorgars" ------> into ------> "Blown Valvetrane" (bad tune btw) Jackey Beavers - "Mr Bumpman (liamski re-edit)" Cloud One - "Spaced Out" Makam - "The Hague Soul" Moodymann - "Midnights" Cookie - "Fun Freaks" Howard Johnson - "So Fine" James T Cotton - "Buck!" Ibex - "Bok Choy" Kenny Larkin - "Nocturnal" Gary Bartz - "Love Tones" A Last Minute House Mix

The jazz aficionado is back! Dayo has delved deeper than ever to bring us a superb jazz mix that's perfect listening on a late Summer afternoon. The previous two installments have nearly caused my podcast to crash, such was their popularity... I'd better stick another 50p in the meter and up my bandwidth for this one! The tracklist - and typically informative comment - can be found over on www.brownswood.co.uk ENJOY! A Summer Soul Affair

If you dig hanging out, drinking, relaxing and taking it easy in the sun with family and friends, I reckon this soul mix will give you the soundtrack to your summer runnins.

70mins of that unmistakable bumping boogie-funk sound. Tracks from the late 70s and 80s with more bounce to the ounce. Perfect summer listening, whether you've got wetlook hair or not Gary Bartz - Keep On Goin'

Another adventure in house. A mix made up of my favourite tracks from recent months, and some older bits that always tickle my fancy. The first track is the as-yet-unreleased Theo Parrish remix of LCD Soundsystem's "Lies", which is then blended into more unreleased pressure - an excellent Simbad re-edit of D'Angelo's "Devils Pie".... The UK's hottest production team, Souled, do the business on Dee Dee Sharp's classic "Nobody Loves Me Like You", before it gets a bit darker via Omar S and his brilliant "Bladerunner" track. All topped off by everyone's favourite, Derrick L Carter Hope you enjoy! -----------
"Lies (Theo Parrish Rmx)" - LCD Soundsystem "Devils Pie" - D'Angelo vs Simbad "Look At What We've Done" - Phlash & Friends "Raw Cuts 3" - Motor City Drum Ensemble "Change (No Milk Rhapsody Remix)" - Norm Talley "Nobody Loves Me Like You (Souled Re-edit)" - Dee Dee Sharp "I Told You So" - Jozana "Silent" - Glenn Underground "Track 5" - Giles Smith presents Two Armadillos "Bladerunner" - Omar S "Inner Tech-No (Ambient Jaz-one)" - Glenn Underground "Friends Talk" - Derrick L Carter Strictly Jazz Volume 2

Another dive in the depths of Dayo's record collection! Following the fantastic feedback on Strictly Jazz Volume 1, Dayo joined me in the lab to record another fat slice of jazz goodness. The mix spans the full spectrum, blending modal beauties with hard-bop leg-shakers. This is a proper workout- prepare to like this alot Full tracklist will soon be available over on www.brownswood.co.uk in the next week Beatdown: Dabrye Mix
January 27, 2009 02:22 PM PST
One from the archives! A couple of years ago I put together a mix of my favourite tracks by Dabyre, aka James T. Cotton, aka Tadd Mullinix. I thought I'd dig it out and dust it off for your consumption In his Dabrye guise, this uber-versatile producer explores hip-hop, creating head-nodding beats with saw-tooth bass lines that have earned him considerable praise from both the hip-hop underground (J Dilla, Jurassic 5) and commercial success (one of his tracks featured on a Motorola ad). No tracklist for this one - just let the beats roll! Strictly For MY NINJAS
