SBPodcast #11 - The T.O.M Product Pt 1

I considered doing a tribute mix for one of my favourite DJs / Producers, Theo Parrish. Then I thought how great it would be to add in a bit of that raw Omar S sound. Then it made sense to drop in one of their talented peers, Marcellus Pittman. 70-odd minutes later, and I've got one of the best SpaceBass podcasts yet. Theo, Omar and Marcellus released a track in 2006 under the name of 'The T.O.M Project', a hard edged, acid heavy workout that showed what these great minds could create as collaborators. This latest SpaceBass mix takes that essence and puts together some of the best tracks these producers have made. It's on the heavier side - acid basslines and techno thump feature throughout - but the mix showcases their PRODUCT seamlessly. And the other great thing is that it's a two-part rinse! Tracklist: Theo Parrish - Levels

It's been a while, but we felt it was time to drop another mix of calming, soothing mood grooves. Don't call it balearic, or a 'chill out' mix... it's a collection of soul, jazz and other stuff that aims to calm frayed nerves. Dedicated to the Pickering clan. Brainstorm - Prelude

This is a mix dedicated to little baby Ciara (aka Twiglet), his mum and Davin. It's all about the music Twiglet's dad loved and shared through his mixes over the years. Hope you enjoy this pretty broad-genre throwdown. Nu-Era Intro

Well, here we are again. Going to the outer limits of Dayo's heavy heavy heavy record collection. The 4th journey of a fantastic series is possibly the best of the lot. Despite the title, it's not 'strictly' jazz - there's other moods and grooves in there. Suggestion - just check it. Tracklist soon come on www.brownswood.co.uk SpaceBass Podcast - A Downtempo Love Affair

Last year we were very fortunate to have the legendary Patrick Forge DJ at one of our parties, and as a leaving present he left us this mix! Here's some words from the man himself: Greetings from the sub-tropical outpost of the Nippon motherland! Liam from Space Bass asked me to knock up a little funk and boogie blend; and that’s what I’ve put together, well almost ! Mixed live and raw from original vinyl on my Bozak rotary without the benefits (?) of EQ and FX, this is a one-time mix, unplanned with all the joy and serendipity of spontaneous selection. So there’s the odd bump and flam along the way. Much as my heart belongs to jazz, I grew up dancing to music like this, which is why it’s been my pleasure to have been doing the Inspiration Information sessions for the last dozen years or so. The tunes range from the electro tinged Afrobeat of African Connexion and King Sunny Ade, through Larry Levan’s dub of Smokey to straight up boogie classics from Fresh Band and Pleasure, and not forgetting the Italian connection from Firefly the mighty Change ( Paradise is one of many written and arranged by the awesome team of producer Mauro Malavasi and bassist Davide Romani, BB+Q’s Starlette being another). There’s proto-house from Serious Intention, a little Jamaican funk from Richard Ace, and a wonderfully warped mélange of slap bass and heavy claps to start things rolling with The Pied Piper of Funkingham, dropping the tempo at the end for a fairly obscure 12’ only release from Lesette Wilson. Hope you enjoy! Naha City Block Party!. The Pied Piper Of Funkingham – Clap Song (Chocolate Chollys)

We're kicking off the all new SpaceBass podcast with a Xmas-smelling disco, boogie and funk workout from liamski. From the retro-funk vibrations of Dam Funk, through to Ronny Dyson's classic "All Over Your Face", it's the perfect accompaniment to a turkey stuffing session.
